OTTUMWA — Community 1st Credit Union will award $54,000 in scholarships to 26 student-members for the 2025-26 academic year as part of its annual scholarship program.
The awards include one $4,000 scholarship for a child of a C1st employee, two $2,000 Rex Stewart Memorial scholarships for agriculture majors, and 23 $2,000 scholarships awarded to students representing each C1st branch location.
Among this year’s area $2,000 scholarship recipients are Avery Halstead (Albia), Kaylin McDanel (Centerville), Alexia Shively (Bloomfield), Cassidy Mallinger (Fairfield), Breckyn Schilling (Oskaloosa), and five Ottumwa members: Dominick Rath, Makayla Barnes, Lydia Roling, Samantha Weeks, and Araceli Zaragoza-Tapetillo.
Mailliw Figueroa Alvarado, a University of Iowa student and Ottumwa-Richmond Branch member, received the $4,000 employee child scholarship. Rex Stewart Memorial Agriculture Scholarships were awarded to Jedd Weinkoetz (Southwestern Community College) and Cael Butler (Iowa State University).
