CENTERVILLE — A 17-year-old is facing a charge for threat of terrorism after police say a “potential threat of violence” was made toward Centerville High School by a student.

Police and school officials did not identify the student. They also did not share any additional information about the threat, other than to say they determined no students or staff were in immediate danger as a result of the threat.

The teen is being charged as a juvenile, and the case has been referred to juvenile court where its handling will be confidential.

The arrest occurred Tuesday, but police only acknowledged the charges in a press release Thursday afternoon.

In an open letter, Centerville Community Schools Superintendent Mark Taylor spoke about “incidents with some of our students” that rose to the level of involving law enforcement. He did not outline the specifics of the incidents.
