SEYMOUR — Patience and opportunistic base-running helped Seymour to a 12-0 blowout over Moulton-Udell in three innings on Thursday. The Warriorettes would draw 11 walks (nine in the first inning) while stealing four bags on their way to the win.
“We didn't respond to Seymour being aggressive on the bases very well tonight. We are still learning in a lot of areas and we were exposed in those tonight,” Moulton-Udell head coach Jason Ogden said.
Moulton-Udell’s Stephanie Leager had a difficult time finding the strike zone early, walking the first six Seymour batters. The Warriorettes would end up scoring seven runs in the first before adding two in the second and another three in the third to walk it off with the run rule.
Judy Campbell went 1-for-2 with a walk and three RBIs for Seymour. Zoe Joiner had two RBIs while Hannah Hinners, Kaitlyn Couchman and Ori Trimble each had one RBI.
Ori Trimble pitched all shutout three innings, giving up three hits with one walk and three strikeouts.
Chelsey Boettcher went 2-for-2 for the Lady Eagles.
“We have hit a rough spot here as of late and we need to get back to playing ball and having some fun,” Ogden said.
Seymour (9-7) travels to Murray (7-8) on Friday at 6 p.m. Moulton-Udell (2-8) will host Diagonal (2-7) on Friday at 8 p.m.
