Matchup history

Although Moravia is 0-3 against Melcher-Dallas this season, two of those games were decided by one run.

One key player for Moravia

Four of Mikayla Fritz’s six home runs have come against Melcher-Dallas this year. The catcher/shortstop has raked against the Saints this year and the Lady Mohawks sure would love her to have another big game. The sophomore is batting .351 with 19 RBIs and a team-high 19 stolen bases. Whether it’s her hitting for power or getting on base and using her legs, Moravia will need her to make an impact on this game.

Keys for Moravia

If you get a lead, hold onto it and close it out. Moravia has led in all three games against Melcher-Dallas but have blown that lead each time. It’s going to take a complete game where Moravia has to be locked in on every pitch, especially with a lead against a Saints squad that has shown they have the firepower to come back from deficits. Melcher-Dallas has one of the conference’s best pitchers in Emilie Krpan, who leads the Bluegrass Conference in wins (25), strikeouts (237, third in Class 1A), innings pitched (166) and is second in ERA (1.22). With that being said, Moravia has shown they can hang with Krpan but they have to limit their strikeouts against her and put pressure on Melcher-Dallas’ defense, which finished middle of the pack in the conference in terms of fielding percentage.
