Coming off of their big win against Centerville, No. 4 Seymour was hoping to avoid any drop-off. It was business as usual as Seymour would take a 62-36 win over Ankeny Christian Academy.

This one didn’t take long to get out of hand. The second highest scoring team in the state showed little mercy in a 109-34 blowout of No. 4 Ankeny Christian Academy over Seymour.

The Redettes shouldn’t hang their heads after this one. Centerville gave No. 4 Seymour their toughest game of the season but their bid for an upset would come up short as the Warriorettes would hold off the Redettes to win 65-56.

For the first time this season, Centerville followed up a win with another win. The Big Reds continued their offensive roll from last week in a 73-39 trouncing over Seymour.

Talk about a model of consistency. No. 4 Seymour has dominated all of their opponents in nearly the same fashion and it was no different on Wednesday night when they would dispose of Melcher-Dallas 69-33.

The Warriors were unable to ride the momentum from a dominating win the night before as the tide shifted against them in an 80-65 loss to Melcher-Dallas.

It’s usually not a good sign for the Warriorettes when head coach Paul Hinners has his suit jacket and tie ripped off within the first few minutes of the game, but that was the case as No. 4 Seymour dealt with some winter break rust. They would still find a way to execute enough to pull away…

After starting the season 3-0, Seymour was hoping the new year would help erase a long losing streak. Instead, the streak grew to six losses in a row after Seymour lost 70-42 on Friday against Lamoni.

The Seymour boys and girls basketball teams continued their undefeated starts to the season picking up a pair of blowout wins against the Bulldogs. The eighth-ranked Warriorettes defeated the Bulldogs 72-32 while the Seymour boys grabbed a 45-27 win over Orient-Macksburg.

The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) released their annual survey this fall on the nation’s high school sports participation numbers. Iowa stayed 19th in the nation in participation with football seeing another decline in participants.

The Bluegrass Conference released their all-conference volleyball selections made by the coaches for this past season. To little surprise, the conference champion Seymour Warriorettes made up a majority of the east division with five selections while Moravia had three and Moulton-Udell had one.
