Centerville Redettes

LETTS — There is nothing to hang your head on with a result like this. Centerville went toe-to-toe against No. 2 Louisa-Muscatine but would fall just shy of the upset, losing 1-0 in the regional semifinal matchup.

Centerville has proven to be difficult to shutout this year as this was only their second shutout defeat. They had their hands full against UNI-commit Hailey Sanders, who finished the night allowing just three hits and three walks with 15 strikeouts.

Alyssa McElvain and the Centerville defense were up for the challenge. McElvain battled through six innings, needing only 64 pitches. The lone run she gave up was unearned as she only allowed four hits and one walk. The Redettes had to stay on their toes as this was the only game this season that McElvain didn’t record a strikeout.

Ysabella Berja, Taylor Shinn, Lanie Moorman all had a hit for Centerville. Freshman McKenna Hohenadel went 2-for-3 with a double for Louisa-Muscatine.

Centerville ends the year with a record of 15-16. They lose their lone senior, Cam Hendricks, to graduation.
