Centerville's Alyssa McElvain (center) high fives her teammates after getting a strikeout against Moulton-Udell.

MOULTON — Opening night did not feature ideal conditions as Centerville made quick work of Moulton-Udell in 15-0 rain-soaked season-opening victory in three innings.

Alyssa McElvain got the ball for her first of many starts this season. She would only surrender two walks while striking out seven Lady Eagles to get the win. She also added a couple of hits on the night.

Centerville batted around in the first inning as they would jump out to an early 9-0 lead behind station to station hitting and a couple of Moulton-Udell fielding errors.

The Redettes then added two in the second and four runs in the third to trigger the 15-run rule as all nine Centerville starters got on base at least once.

Jessica King took the loss for Moulton-Udell as she would give up 11 runs, four earned, on six hits with three walks and two strikeouts.

No. 15 (3A) Centerville (1-0) play in their home opener on Wednesday at 7 p.m. against Davis County (0-0).
