Go undefeated and break a school record, not a bad week for McCain Oden and the Centerville Big Reds.
Centerville picked up a pair of wins over Knoxville as well as wins over Pella and Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont last week. In those games, Oden owned a .533 batting average with one walk, two doubles, one triple and four RBIs.
He started on the mound for the second game against Knoxville and would throw a complete game needing only 77 pitches to get through 7 innings. Oden would give up one run on four hits with no walks and five strikeouts.
To cap off the week, Oden broke the school record for most career hits with 168 to pass Patrick Harshman and Kyle Kauzlarich, who both had 167 career hits. Oden, a junior, has a lot of baseball left to now extend the new record.
On the season, Oden is batting .418 with a team-high 15 RBIs. He is also 3-0 on the rubber with a 2.52 ERA and 18 strikeouts against six walks in 25 innings pitched.
