Sport: Track and field
It was a dominate week for Seymour’s Hannah Hinners on the track when everything was on the line. The sophomore competed in the Bluegrass Conference Meet earlier in the week before securing a trip to Des Moines at the state qualifier.
The senior started her week by claiming titles in all four events that she ran in at the Bluegrass Conference Meet.
She started by helping Seymour to a pair of first place finishes in relay events, taking first in the 800-meter medley (2:02.70) with Madison Keller, Gracie Hinners and Natalee Watters before finishing off a nice comeback win in the shuttle hurdle relay (1:16.34) with Watters, Acey Jellison and Dylan Ludington.
Hinners then won both of her individual hurdle races, winning the 100-meter hurdles (16.83) and the 400-meter hurdles (1:15.89).
She then traveled to Leon for the state qualifying meet. There she locked in her first trip to the blue oval as a senior by qualifying in the 100-meter hurdles and the 400-meter hurdles.
Hinners is set to compete in the 100-meter hurdles at the state meet at Drake on Friday at 3:40 p.m. before competing in the 400-meter hurdles later that night at 5:20 p.m.
