Nick Gobert is the newest addition to the Indian Hills Community College baseball program. He was added as an assistant under head coach Matt Torrez this month.
Prior to coming to IHCC, Gobert served as a graduate assistant baseball coach at his alma mater, University of Southern Indiana, during the 2018-19 academic year after earning his bachelor's degree in sport management, with a minor in strength and conditioning, from the Evansville, Indiana school. He is currently working toward a master's degree in sport management at USI.
Transferring to Southern Indiana after three years at the University of Dayton, Gobert was an honorable mention All-American and first-team all-region and first-team all-conference selection his senior season at USI after batting .357. He was third in NCAA Division II with 26 doubles, and earned all-conference and all-district academic honors as well. Gobert also made the all-conference academic list the year before.
The new IHCC assistant coach played high school baseball in Jasper, Indiana, where he helped lead his team to over 100 victories in four years and was twice named the Most Valuable Player and Most Valuable Pitcher.
Gobert has also been a camp counselor and assistant coach for the Dubois County Bombers in Huntingburg, Indiana, a team made up of collegiate players who reached the league playoffs with Gobert on the staff.
