Trent McCann

Centerville’s Trent McCann (20) kicks off against Davis County.

Football season isn’t quite over yet for Trent McCann. Centerville’s three-time all-state special teamer will get another game in his Big Red helmet as he will play in the upcoming River Battle Bowl.

The River Battle Bowl features the top prospects from Iowa against the top prospects from Nebraska.

As a kicker, McCann hit a school-record 52-yard field goal (second longest in the state this season) in the game of the season against Albia.

He would make four of his five fields on the year and would make 28-of-30 extra point attempts. The Iowa State commit also finished second in Class 2A with 24 touchbacks.

As a punter, his yards per punt average of 39.1 was sixth among Class 2A punters with at least 20 punts. His season long punt of 69 yards was third in Class 2A.

The River Battle Bowl kicks off on Saturday at Gale Wickersham Stadium in Council Bluffs at 2 p.m.
