OSKALOOSA — A familiar course did not end in familiar results. It was a tough day at Edmundson Golf Course on Thursday for the Big Reds as Centerville would shoot 372 (fifth as a team) and fall short of a trip to state.

Cole Cooper and Kaleb Cochran played in their final rounds for the Big Reds, shooting an 85 and 86, respectively. They would both miss out on individually qualifying for state as West Burlington’s Matt Briggs and Clear Creek Amana’s Brandon McCarty both earned those honors with rounds of 75.

“Going to really miss Cole (Cooper) and Kaleb (Cochran) next year. They have meant a great deal to this program as well as me personally. They will do well for themselves,” Centerville head coach Mike Carney said.

Cannon Riggall shot an 88 while Kyler Pettibone and Collin Mihalovich both shot 113s. Austin White added a 119.

“We have several players coming back and I am anxious to see who gets and plays this summer,” Carney said.

Pella (318), Oskaloosa (327) and Mount Pleasant (336) all advanced to this week’s state tournament.
