Who: Seymour (7-17) vs Twin Cedars (13-12)
What: Class 1A - District 12 - Quarterfinal
When: Saturday, July 13 at 5 p.m.
Twin Cedars swept the season series getting wins of 14-1, 12-5 and 7-2 over Seymour. The good news for the Warriors is that each game they got closer to the Sabers and it is very tough to beat the same team four times in a row in the same season.
One key player for Seymour
Brody Tuttle has come out and become an impact player for Seymour as an eighth grader. Tuttle leads the team with a .341 batting average to go along with 10 RBIs. He has also been their best pitcher, going 2-2 with a 0.80 ERA with 35 strikeouts in 26 1/3 innings. It will be interesting to see how Tuttle handles a win or go home situation but he has shown he has the talent to help guide Seymour to a victory.
Keys for Seymour
Seymour needs to have the bats going. They posted the worst batting average in the conference, hitting just .204 as a team. They also need to be better in situational hitting as they have only collected 55 RBIs (2.3 per game) over the course of the season. Defense and pitching is always important but no matter how dumb it may sound, you need to score to win. Seymour only has four players batting over .200 and they will need all of them to find a way on base and get some runs for the Warriors.
