Matchup history

The two split a doubleheader at Moravia last month with the Mohawks dropping game one 3-2 before coming back to take game two 16-8. Melcher-Dallas came back to win the first game with two runs in the seventh inning but Moravia’s 14 hits and eight walks helped them to a blowout in game two.

One key player for Moravia

Cason Butz is one of those players where you just don’t know if he will go off and dominate a game. He has the ability to take over games as he has shown he can go 5-for-5 (leads team with .469 batting average) at the plate or pitch complete games with 10 strikeouts (4-0, 2.24 ERA). Even when he is in center field, he has shown his range and arm can help save runs for Moravia. If Butz has one of his big games, the Mohawks will be in very good shape.

Keys for Moravia

Depth should be the key for Moravia as Melcher-Dallas comes in as a very top heavy team. The Saints have one player hitting over .300 this season. His name is Dalton Lovell and he has dominated opposing pitchers, hitting .522 with five home runs and 28 RBIs. Melcher-Dallas’ pitching is led by Ryan Krpan (4-1, 2.31 ERA). If Moravia can get by him, no other Melcher-Dallas pitcher with at 10 innings has an ERA under 6.28. Look for Moravia’s upperclassmen to lead the way as any help from the younger guys would be a bonus in this game as the Saints don’t have too many impact players outside their top two guys.
