8:45 p.m. An accident was reported at Highway 5 and Highway J18 near Moravia. Gunnar Ray Sleeth, 24, of Exline, was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado southbound on Highway 5. Jordan Taylor Samuels, 21, of Ottumwa, was driving a 2005 Nissan Sentra and entered Highway 5 in front of Sleeth. The vehicles collided in the intersection, with Samuels’ vehicle spinning off the roadway to the southeast and coming to rest in a ditch. Samuels was pinned inside the vehicle with several injuries, according to the accident report. Samuels was extricated with suspected serious injuries and transported by air ambulance from the scene. Sleeth was listed as uninjured. Josee Marie Giberson, 20, of Ottumwa, was transported by ground ambulance to MercyOne Centerville Medical Center with suspected minor injuries. Samuels was charged with failure to obey stop sign and yield right of way and failure to provide proof of financial liability. Damage to the Silverado was estimated at $10,000 and damage to the Nissan was estimated at $5,000.

9:06 a.m. Timothy Glen Vanantwerp, 53, of Eddyville, was charged at the Centerville Law Center with domestic assault causing bodily injury and obstructing emergency communications.

1:30 p.m. Michael Jody Kinkennon, 42, of Centerville, was charged at the Centerville Law Center with failure to appear.

July 14

8:01 p.m. An accident was reported in the 15000 block of 150th Avenue. Michael Ray Bradley, 52, of Centerville, was driving a 2018 Honda Goldwing motorcycle when a deer entered the roadway and was struck by the motorcycle. Damage to the motorcycle was estimated at $3,500. Bradley was uninjured.
