IOWA CITY — An inmate serving prison time on an Appanoose County conviction has died suddenly.
Carl Thomas Robinson, 23, died at 2:53 p.m. Jan. 7 according to the Iowa Department of Corrections. He was charged and ultimately convicted of sex offender registration violation, second offense, in 2017. He was sentenced to five years in prison, a term which began on Dec. 11, 2017.
Robinson died at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinic due to an unexpected medical issue. The three sentence press release did not elaborate.
He had reported living at an address in Melrose, but when an Appanoose County Sheriff’s Deputy went to verify in January 2017 the deputy was told Robinson hadn’t lived there since August 2016.
