The Centerville FFA banquet was held at the Lakeview cafeteria on May 1.
The Star Greenhand Award went to Kenny Lawson, the Rising Star was Marriah Rupalo.
At sub districts the people who got awards were Masey Brown and Shaylin Brown who got bronzes for the chapter test, in the welding contest Kenny Lawson got a silver and Sam Benz got a bronze, Blair Wright took the greenhand quiz, she received a bronze at districts and at state. Kenzie Mitchell got a silver for the chapter website and Antonia Goodwin and Marriah Rupalo got a silver on the chapter exhibit at state.
Logsdon presented the academic achievement awards to Joe Morris and Shaylin Brown. The next award was the usher pin awarded to Aubreyonna McGill. The Dekalb award went to the senior student with the most outstanding SAE, which was Joe Morris.
The next award was the Iowa Degree. The two members receiving them were Joe Morris and Aubreyonna McGill. They each received a plaque and their pins and chains. Logsdon awarded a special fruit sales award to Joe Morris for selling $10,282 in fundraising items during his four years in high school.
Then the chapter held their chapter degree ceremony. Those receiving their chapter degrees were Samuel Benz, Matthew Logsdon, Kenzie Mitchell, and Kenny Lawson.
The Centerville FFA recognized honorary members. Those receiving this honor were Tim and Jill Morris and Patricia Schoenherr.
The last award presented was an Appreciation Award which went to Allen Boecker for chaperoning many FFA trips.
After the awards ceremony, members had their annual pie action and the chapter thanked Clarence Ballenger for being the auctioneer along with the pie chefs and pie buyers. Then the chapter held their new officer induction ceremony. The new officers for 2019-2020 are Samuel Benz (Treasurer), Antonia Goodwin (VP), Matthew Logsdon (Secretary), Kenzie Mitchell (Reporter), Aubreyonna McGill (President) and Kenny Lawson (Sentinel). Then the closing ceremony was held.
For the ceremony meal, FFA members enjoyed cheeseburgers. They wish to thank Doyle McDonald for cooking the meat, and Larry Williams from Fareway for giving members a discount on purchasing the meeting. Officers and their families brought side dishes and desserts.
