Schmell and Kromminga are now man and wife

CENTERVILLE — Brant Lee Schmell and Jessica Leigh Kromminga  were united in marriage on Nov. 27, 2010 at the First Presbyterian Church in Monticello, Iowa. Jessica is the daughter of Lance and Dixie Kromminga of Monticello and Brant is the son of Ernie and Merla Schmell of Centerville.  

Maid of Honor was Emily Kromminga and bridesmaids were Ruth and Christina Kromminga, all of Monticello.  Best Man was Ben Suchman of Warrensburg, Mo. and Groomsmen were Ryan Bingman from Grundy Center and Jeremy Newton of Mount Ayr. The ringbearer was Evan Bingman and Caroline Kromminga was the flower girl. Pastor Mike Martin of Monticello officiated.  Sapphire and silver were the wedding colors. The bride carried a bouquet of 20 white roses with sapphire gems.  Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Camp Courageous Lodge.

The couple honeymooned at the Grand Canyon and Zion National Park.  They make their home in rural Centerville.

The Iowegian wants readers to think about the solicitation ordinance that will prevent groups or individuals from entering a roadway to solicit money. The Centerville City Council in June by a 5-0 vote passed the first reading of just such an ordinance. Public pressure and during a subsequent special meeting, the council voted 3-2 to table the ordinance. A second special meeting to discuss the solicitation ordinance is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7 at City Hall. So, the question of the week is, "Do you or do you not support the ordinance to prevent solicitation of funds in city streets?"
