...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM CST SUNDAY...

* SHORT TERM TRENDS...SNOW WILL CONTINUE THROUGH MUCH OF THE NIGHT

  BEFORE DIMINISHING FROM SOUTHWEST TO NORTHEAST LATE TONIGHT

  THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING. SNOWFALL RATES WILL APPROACH 1 INCH PER

  HOURS AT TIMES. NORTHWEST WINDS WILL BECOME GUSTY LATE CAUSING

  SIGNIFICANT BLOWING SNOW.

* STORM TOTAL SNOW/ICE ACCUMULATIONS...4 TO 8 INCHES OF SNOW CAN

  BE EXPECTED TONIGHT INTO SUNDAY WITH THE MAJORITY OCCURRING BY

  7 AM SUNDAY.

* WINDS/VISIBILITY...GUSTY NORTH TO NORTHWEST WINDS WILL DEVELOP

  TONIGHT AT 15 TO 20 MPH WITH GUSTS OF 25 TO 30 MPH AND

  CONTINUE INTO SUNDAY. BLOWING SNOW COULD REDUCE VISIBILITIES

  FURTHER IN ADDITION TO FALLING SNOW.

* IMPACTS...ROADS WILL BECOME SLICK AS THEY BECOME COVERED WITH

  SNOW. HAZARDOUS TRAVEL WILL BE POSSIBLE DUE TO THE SNOW AND

  BLOWING SNOW.

.A WINTER STORM WILL AFFECT MUCH OF IOWA LATE TODAY THROUGH SUNDAY. A VARIETY OF PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED IN SOUTHEAST AREAS OF IOWA THIS AFTERNOON BEFORE BECOMING ALL SNOW TONIGHT. THE REST

OF THE AREA WILL SEE ONLY SNOW. NORTHWEST WINDS WILL INCREASE BY EARLY SUNDAY MORNING RESULTING IN BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW WITH DANGEROUS WIND CHILLS BY MONDAY MORNING.

The Iowegian wants readers to think about the solicitation ordinance that will prevent groups or individuals from entering a roadway to solicit money. The Centerville City Council in June by a 5-0 vote passed the first reading of just such an ordinance. Public pressure and during a subsequent special meeting, the council voted 3-2 to table the ordinance. A second special meeting to discuss the solicitation ordinance is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7 at City Hall. So, the question of the week is, "Do you or do you not support the ordinance to prevent solicitation of funds in city streets?"
