---- — Brentyn Jackson netted three goals while propelling the Centerville Big Reds to a 5-1 victory over the Pella Christian Eagles on Monday.

Centerville scored three consecutive goals to start the first 15 minutes of Monday’s game.

Jackson started things off with a score just 2:17 into the game. The Big Reds’ Michael Bieber would follow up with a goal just five minutes later. Nick McCann found the net with 25:49 left in the first half.

Pella Christian would break their silence with a goal by Jacob Brouwer in the 24th minute.

Jackson would close scoring in the first half with 14:10 left to give Centerville a 4-1 lead.

Three minutes into the second half, Jackson would complete his hat trick with his third goal of the game. The game would stay scoreless for the remaining 37 minutes as the Reds took the 5-1 victory.

“[Tonight] was the Jackson show,” Centerville head coach Tino Terrones said. “Brentyn has picked up his game into the next level. Michael Bieber and Nick McCann finished up the scoring. Our offense did what it needed to do against [Pella Christian’s] young defensive backs.”

On Tuesday, the Reds kept their momentum with a win over Chariton. Centerville recorded a 2-1 victory in the physical contest.

Bieber scored with a header on a pass from Garrett Moorman with 24:49 in the first half.

“Bieber started the scoring, receiving a beautiful pass from Garrett Moorman to the front of the goal, to head the ball in the left corner of the goal. Doesn’t get any better than that,” Terrones said.

Jackson would score with 8:12 left in the game, giving the Reds a 2-0 lead. Chariton’s Asa St. Lawrence scored with seven minutes left in the game, preventing the shutout.

“I knew this was going to be a tough one,” Terrones said. “Very physical game.”

Centerville (3-4) will travel to Creston on Saturday for an invitational.

The first game will be against Riverside, Oakland.

“Our goal is to come back with two wins and the championship plaque,” Terrones said. “We are playing very well. We keep getting better each day and I am happy with how we are progressing.”

After the weekend tournament, the Reds will be off until Thursday, May 15 when they’ll host Albia in a makeup game, starting at 5:30 p.m.
