Redettes second in triangular

ALBIA — The Albia Lady Dee golf team moved its record to 18-1 on the season with a home win Monday night at the Albia Golf Club.

Albia scored a 202 to defeat South Central Conference foes Centerville, who finished second with a score of 222, and Davis County, who fired a team round of 234.

Junior Lexie Van Polen led Albia with a score of 44 to gain medalist honors by eight shots over Lady Dee teammate Cassie Crall and Molly Heffron of Centerville, both of whom fired a round of 52. Skylar Yahnke led Davis County with a round of 56.

The Redettes are in Moravia for the Lady Mohawk Invitational today at 1 p.m. Centerville will join Albia, Davis County, Chariton and Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont next Tuesday at the South Central Conference Tournament in Oskaloosa.

The Iowegian wants readers to think about the solicitation ordinance that will prevent groups or individuals from entering a roadway to solicit money. The Centerville City Council in June by a 5-0 vote passed the first reading of just such an ordinance. Public pressure and during a subsequent special meeting, the council voted 3-2 to table the ordinance. A second special meeting to discuss the solicitation ordinance is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7 at City Hall. So, the question of the week is, "Do you or do you not support the ordinance to prevent solicitation of funds in city streets?"
