Redettes edge D.C. in dual

CENTERVILLE — The Centerville Redettes bested the Davis County Lady Mustangs by two strokes on Thursday at the Manhattan Golf Club for their final home meet of the year.

Centerville posted a team score of 203 strokes, narrowly edging Davis County who posted 205 strokes in the dual meet.

Davis County’s Skylar Yanke posted the best score, carding 46 for the dual meet’s medalist honors.

Centerville’s Marissa Hunt held the top score for the Redettes, carding 49. Leah Scott, Molly Heffron and Camryn Moorman were not far behind, posting scores of 50, 51 and 53, respectively.

“I thought the girls really grinded out some great scores tonight considering the nasty weather they had to play in,” interm girls’ golf coach Matt Kovacevich said. “Individually, I was really pleased with Camryn’s score. The team needs her to be around that score of better for the rest of the year.”

Also posting scores for Centerville was Bayliegh Johnson, ending the day with 55 strokes, Erissa McGill, with 65, and Morgan Duley with 67.

On Thursday, Centerville will be at the Moravia Girls Invitational starting at 1 p.m. at The Preserve on Rathbun Lake.

A second special meeting to discuss the solicitation ordinance is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7 at City Hall. So, the question of the week is, "Do you or do you not support the ordinance to prevent solicitation of funds in city streets?"
