Golfers battled rough conditions at The Preserve on Rathbun Lake 18-hole course in northern Appanoose County.
According to National Weather Service data, golfers faced sustained winds anywhere from 12-22 mph, with gusts reaching to 25 mph. Temperatures hovered around the mid-40s, but dipped down into the high-30s at one point during the day under mostly cloudy to overcast skies.
The Moravia Mohawks golf team will host Davis County, Melcher-Dallas and Mormon Trail tomorrow starting at 4 p.m. Wayne will be in Pleasantville tomorrow for the Pride of Iowa Conference tournament starting at 9 a.m.
The Centerville Big Reds were in Fairfield on Saturday. Results from that invitational will be in an upcoming edition of the Daily Iowegian. The Big Reds will be off until May 10 for the Chariton Charger Invitational. The regular season finale will be on May 12, again at Chariton, for the South Central Conference tournament.
Centerville’s post-season path will be the exact same as last year’s journey. The Big Reds will host sectionals at The Preserve on Friday, May 16 at 10 a.m. The district meet will be at the Stone Creek Golf Club in Williamsburg on Friday, May 23 at 10 a.m. The Class 3-A state golf meet will again be held at the Ames Golf and Country Club on May 30-31.
