BUSSEY — The Twin Cedars Sabers defeated the Moulton-Udell Eagles 11-0 Tuesday night in the opening round of post-season district baseball.
The Sabers have grabbed state headlines, as they are looking to head to the state tournament a year after the death of a standout player, Derek Springer.
Twin Cedars had an undefeated regular season and so far has won their first one post-season contests.
They were ranked No. 1 in Class 1-A in the final Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association poll.
Sabers will host Southeast Warren tonight at 7 p.m.
They currently need three wins to qualify for the state baseball tournament.
Two Sabers pitchers teamed up for the five inning perfect game. Otis Roby threw four innings while Trace Embray pitched the final three outs.
The two held Moulton hitless, runless and without any walks.
Moulton-Udell ends the season with a 5-11 record. They’ll need to replace seniors Jace Poole, Daniel Wood and Colt Kirby for next season.
