The Indian Hills Falcons picked up another ICCAC series win on Friday and Saturday, besting the Marshalltown Tigers in three out of the four games played at Pat Daugherty Field.
Indian Hills swept Marshalltown in Friday’s twin bill before recording a split with the Tigers in Saturday’s doubleheader.
To open the series, the Falcons came back from a 7-4 deficit to win 16-8 on Friday. Joel Booker and Mitch Langer each had home runs in that game.
Christian Torres and Jose Marin combined for a three-hit shutout over the Tigers in Friday’s nightcap. The Falcons would win the game 5-0.
To open Sunday’s doubleheader, Marshalltown jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead after the first two innings.
Indian Hills’ offense would really heat up in the bottom of the fourth inning. Marshalltown entered the half inning with a 7-1 lead. They would leave exit that inning with a 13-7 deficit.
A quick out would start the inning for the Falcons. Then, Mike Levar would reach base on a fielder’s choice before Joel Fuentes would reach on an error by the first baseman. With runners at first and second base, Edgar Lebron would launch a three-run home run to left-centerfield.
After Ratzman would fly-out in the next at-bat, Joel Booker hit a triple down the third base line. After a single by Paulo Montezuma, the Falcons had runners on the corners. Dario Polanco would then hit the Falcons’ second three-run home run of the inning, putting Indian Hills up 8-7.
At the next at-bat, Jake Lewis would connect for a solo-shot to leftfield, giving Indian Hills a 9-8 lead.
The Falcons would manufacture four more runs around before ending the inning, with Levar, Fuentes, Lebron and Ratzman all coming around to score.
Marshalltown would score one more run in the top of the fifth inning, however, both sides would go quietly for the rest of the game, with Indian Hills coming out on top 13-8.
