Four winners at Dennis Anderson Relays

BLOOMFIELD — The Wayne Falcons had four events earn gold at Monday’s Class A Dennis Anderson Relays in Bloomfield.

Wayne’s Dillon Lain finished in a four-way tie for first in the boys’ high jump, recording a 5’10” jump. The boys’ 4x400 meter relay team took first with a 3:51.134 time in the event.

On the girls side, Breanna Fortune would record a throw of 108’3.75” to take first place in the discus event. Demi Austin would finish first in the long jump, recording a 14’8” jump.

The girls squad had a total of eight runner-up finishes on the night, as they would take second in the team race with 119 points.

The boys would record four runner-up finishes to go with their two victories, taking home third place with 99 points.

Pekin’s track squads swept the team races, with the boys placing first with 168 points and the girls taking first with 196 points.

On Tuesday at the Class AA Dennis Anderson Relays, Moravia finished seventh in the boys’ race while the girls finished fifth.

Gunnar Miller had the highest finish of the day for Moravia, as he finished second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.044 seconds.

The girls had three third place finishes. The Lady Mohawks distance medley relay team finished third with a time of 5:20.15.

Hannah Eastlick had the other two top-three finishes recorded on Tuesday. She finished third in the 200 meter dash with a time of 31.35 seconds and finished third in the long jump, recording a jump of 14’10”.

Moravia and the Wayne girls competed in Centerville’s Co-Ed Relays on Thursday. The Wayne boys’ track team was in Clarke.

The Moravia and Wayne boys will be in Chariton on Tuesday. The Moravia girls will be off until the co-ed track meet in Melcher-Dallas on April 22.
