Wayne beats Moravia in dual

MORAVIA — The Wayne Falcons golf team beat the Moravia Mohawks in a dual meet at The Preserve on Monday.

Wayne carded a team total of 222, compared to Moravia’s score of 263.

The Falcons’ Brock Draper carded 45 to take the medalist honors in the dual meet. Wayne’s Jeffrey Middlebrook and Dakota Lovett carded 53 to share the runner-up medalist honors.

Rounding out the top-four shooters for Wayne was Tanner Bennett with 71.

Moravia’s Levi Hawk led the team with 54 strokes over nine holes. Rounding out the top-four for the Mohawks were Sam Clouse, with 68, Chase Wicker, with 69, and Scott Close with 72.

Moravia was in Albia for a quadrangular on Thursday. Their next meet is the Albia Invitational on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.

Wayne will be in Mt. Ayr at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

The Iowegian wants readers to think about the solicitation ordinance that will prevent groups or individuals from entering a roadway to solicit money. The Centerville City Council in June by a 5-0 vote passed the first reading of just such an ordinance. Public pressure and during a subsequent special meeting, the council voted 3-2 to table the ordinance. A second special meeting to discuss the solicitation ordinance is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7 at City Hall. So, the question of the week is, "Do you or do you not support the ordinance to prevent solicitation of funds in city streets?"
