Reds win first meet of the season

The Centerville Big Reds golf team started the season by taking the top-spot at the Eddyville triangular on Thursday.

Centerville’s Alex Moorman carded 36 to take the medalist honors at Harvest Point Golf Course, a par 35 course in Oskaloosa. The Big Reds’ Jake Hargrave tied with Chariton’s Daric Lang for the runner-up medalist honors, as each ended the day with 38 strokes.

Centerville won the triangular with 155 strokes. Chariton finished second with 182 strokes while Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont recorded 210.

Rounding out the top-four scorers for Centerville were Blake Dabney, who finished the day with 41 and Brad Irwin, who carded 41.

Also competing for Centerville were Colton Belloma, who ended the day with 43 strokes, Brett Kauzlarich, who shot a round of 45, Conner Scully, who carded 46, and Ryan Kaster who turned in a score of 48.

The Big Reds will be in Schuyler County today at 4 p.m. They’ll head to Schuyler County again at 9 a.m. on Thursday for another meet.
