IHCC splits first day against No. 15 Reivers

Two walks and a single by Iowa Western would load the bases with no out to begin the bottom of the seventh inning. The Reviers’ Quinn Carpenter would connect for a double to give Iowa Western two runs and put runners at second and third with no-out.

After that, the Falcons would call in Jose Marin, who would strike out the next two batters. A wild pitch would plate Iowa Western’s Jason McMurray, making the score 8-6. However, Alex Crowl would flyout to second base, ending the game and giving the Falcons the win.

The Falcons did not fare as well in game nightcap of Saturday’s twin bill. Iowa Western would outscore the Falcons 12-4 to split the first of two doubleheaders. Indian Hills recorded eight errors on defense during the nightcap.

Indian Hills (21-10, 4-2 in ICCAC) played two more conference games in Council Bluffs against Iowa Western (27-6, 5-1 in ICCAC) on Sunday. Results of those games were not available before the Daily Iowegian went to press.

The Falcons’ JV squad will host Central College today at 3 p.m. Tomorrow, Indian Hills will travel to Ft. Dodge for a varsity/JV doubleheader against Iowa Central Community College, beginning at 2 p.m.

The Falcons host Southeastern Community College on April 9 at 4 p.m. before they host another ICCAC pair of twin bills against Marshalltown Community College on Saturday and Sunday. The first doubleheader, on Saturday, begins at 1 p.m. with Sunday’s action getting underway at 12 p.m.

The Iowegian wants readers to think about the solicitation ordinance that will prevent groups or individuals from entering a roadway to solicit money. The Centerville City Council in June by a 5-0 vote passed the first reading of just such an ordinance. Public pressure and during a subsequent special meeting, the council voted 3-2 to table the ordinance. A second special meeting to discuss the solicitation ordinance is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7 at City Hall. So, the question of the week is, "Do you or do you not support the ordinance to prevent solicitation of funds in city streets?"

A. I support the ordinance
B. I do not support the ordinance
C. Not sure
