Lady Eagles rout Orient-Macksburg

MOULTON — The Moulton-Udell Lady Eagles recorded their third win of the season on Friday, defeating the Orient-Macksburg Lady Bulldogs 14-2 in four innings.

The win is their third in their last five games.

The Lady Eagles recorded nine runs in the first inning alone. Moulton-Udell would expand their lead to 12-0 in the second with three more runs.

“We continue to play good softball,” head coach Jason Ogden said. “On Friday night against Orient-Macksburg we swung the bats very well. Hopefully we can continue to play good ball in the next couple of weeks as regionals will start July 7.”

Orient-Macksburg would break their silence with two runs in the top of the third inning.

Moulton scored one run in the bottom of the third to make the score 13-2. The Lady Eagles’ Katlynn Leer would score the game-clinching run after she recorded a one-out triple and came home on a bunt by Maddie Newland.

Katie Selvy picked up the win for the Lady Eagles after pitching four innings with three strikeouts. Moulton-Udell’s Shayla Martsching, Leer and Westercamp all added triples offensively. Martsching led the offense with a 3-for-3 performance, which included her triple and also a double.

Moulton-Udell (3-14, 2-5 in BGC) hosted Moravia last night in an area rivalry game. The Lady Eagles will be in action against at Murray on Thursday and at home against Davis County on Friday. This Saturday they’ll be in Harmony for a softball tournament.

Public pressure and during a subsequent special meeting, the council voted 3-2 to table the ordinance. A second special meeting to discuss the solicitation ordinance is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7 at City Hall. So, the question of the week is, "Do you or do you not support the ordinance to prevent solicitation of funds in city streets?"

A. I support the ordinance
