Seymour wins two at Lady Eagle Tournament

MOULTON — The Seymour Warriorettes are now 7-1 on the year, after winning their two games at the Moulton-Udell lady Eagle Tournament on Saturday.

Their first win was a 6-5 victory over Mormon Trail. The second win was over Grandview Park Baptist by the score of 10-8. Less than 24 hours earlier, Seymour had lost to Grandview 14-1 for their first and, so far, only loss of the season.

Seymour posted a three-run second and three-run fourth inning to claim the win with just four hits recorded. The Warriorettes drew six walks in the contest.

Eight-grader Ali Enright picked up the win, throwing five innings allowing six hits and tossing two strikeouts.

To cap off the tournament, Seymour recorded a seven-run fifth inning to beat Grandview 10-8. Freshman Jocey Parham recorded the win from the pitcher’s circle, allowing eight hits over five innings with no walks and two strikeouts.

Seymour’s only run of the game came in the third inning, when sophomore Ashtin Glenn hit her third home run of the season.

Public pressure and during a subsequent special meeting, the council voted 3-2 to table the ordinance. A second special meeting to discuss the solicitation ordinance is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7 at City Hall. So, the question of the week is, "Do you or do you not support the ordinance to prevent solicitation of funds in city streets?"
