The Indian Hills Falcons recorded three home runs in their 11-1 rout over the Ellsworth Community College Panthers on Tuesday.
The Falcons got on the board with a six-run third inning to take a decisive lead early in what was intended to be a nine-inning game.
The first two runs came from Luis Estevez and Edgar Lebron both got on base from walks and were manufactured around.
Joel Booker and Dario Polanco reached the base paths on a single and an Ellsworth error, respectively. At the next at-bat, Junior Santos connected for a three-run home run to left-centerfield. Just a few pitches later, the Falcons would go up 6-0 as Mitch Langer connected for a home run to straight-away center.
In the fourth inning, Ratzman and Polanco would come around to score to give the Falcons an 8-0 lead. In the fifth inning, Jake Lewis would hit the third homer of the game for the Falcons, plating himself and Paulo Montezuma, to give the Falcons a 10-0 lead.
Ellsworth would score their first and only run in the sixth inning. The Falcons, however, would see Estevez score on a passed ball in the seventh inning, giving them a 10-run lead good enough to end the game early on the mercy-run rule.
The win gives Indian Hills 20 wins on the season thus far, as they improve their record to 20-9.
Indian Hills hosts Iowa Central today in a varsity/JV doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. After that, the Falcons are on the road to Iowa Western in Council Bluffs for a four-game series.
