MOULTON — The Orient-Macksburg Bulldogs handed the Moulton-Udell Eagles an 11-9 loss on Friday.

The Eagles held an early 2-0 lead after one inning. Orient-Macksburg, though, would record five runs in the top of the second to take a 5-2 lead.

Moulton scored two runs in the fifth inning to lessen the gap to 5-4. After Orient-Macksburg scored a run in the top of the seventh, the Eagles fired back with two runs in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game at 6-6.

The Bulldogs would quickly jump back ahead with five runs in the seventh.

Moulton-Udell’s Trey Stansberry would be hit-by-a-pitch with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to give the Eagles their first baserunner of the inning. He would eventually score when Zach Boettcher singled.

Logan Mitchell would score the Eagles’ second run of the inning on an error. Boettcher would score when Colt Kirby singled to make the score 11-9.

After that, however, Orient-Macksburg recorded a three-pitch strikeout to claim the win.

The Eagles out-hit the Bulldogs 10 hits to Orient-Macksburg’s six. Moulton-Udell would strand 11 runners in the game, though, which proved to be a fatal blow.

Moulton-Udell (4-6) hosted Moravia last night. They’ll be at Iowa Christian Academy tonight at 6 p.m. and in Murray on Thursday.
