The Moulton-Udell Lady Eagles defeated Twin Cedars on July 6 in a conference game and again in on July 8 in the first round of districts.

On Monday they won 3-1 with Madison Probasco on the mound with eight strikeouts. Probasco improved her record to 6-5 this season.

“We got a great pitching performance from Madi and our defense made plays,” said Coach Jason Ogden.

Mackenzie Clark picked up her sixth home run of the season in the fourth inning which put the Lady Eagles up 3-0.

“We were able to dodge big innings from them. In the seventh they had a runner at second and the top of the order up with two outs. Madi did a nice job,” said Ogden.

Jessica Scott hit a double for the Lady Eagles while Kadarenna Sales, Kaylee Stansberry, Probasco and Clark each had singles.

Clark had two RBIs and Chelsey Harris had one RBI.

On Wednesday when the girls defeated the Sabers again with a score of 9-8 to move on to the quarter-finals of regional play.

Clark was the winning pitcher with three strikeouts and improved her record to 7-6 this season.

Whitney Hill’s pinch hit two-run single gave the Lady Eagles an 8-7 lead in the fifth followed by Sales with a base hit to bring home Hill and that proved to be the difference in the game.

“We had good bats tonight,” said Ogden.

Clark hit a double and a triple and had one RBI while singles came from Sales, Alexis Kauzlarich (2), Stansberry, Probasco (2), Kassi Guinn, Hill and Scott (2).

On Friday the girls paired up with the Moravia Lady Mohawks.

They defeated Moravia 8-3 with Probasco and Clark on the mound. Probasco earned the win with eight strikeouts and allowed three runs on one hit.

Clark had one strikeout and allowed one hit and no runs.

Scott had a two-run single in the first which tied the game and then we took a lead.

Sales hit a three-run double in the sixth which broke open a close game. “That gave us a lot of comfort going into the last inning. I think were were able to relax a lot more,” said Ogden.

Clark also hit a double and a single and Scott had two singles.

Sales had three RBIs and Scott had two RBIs while Clark had one.

The Lady Eagles will be in Chariton tonight for the semi-finals against S.E. Warren. The game will start at 6 p.m.
