Homecoming brings back memories of looking and feeling good

This week was homecoming for us in Centerville. Homecoming means different things to different people. Some people live in or around Centerville, but some live on the other side of the world.

People always come back to their hometown and the place they graduated high school from. Especially on their special years. We like to get together to talk about old times and discuss current happenings.

The football game was awesome! It was complete domination from the Big Reds. Homecoming couldn’t have been better for the members of that team as well as all the loyal fans rooting them on in person or on air.

Homecoming also brings back memories of being active and being in the best shape of your life. It doesn’t have to be that way. There is no time in your life that is pre-destined to be the time in which you are the most fit and most healthy. For most people, the time that you were the most fit was in high school. Why?

Because you were active! You didn’t have to eat perfect to stay fit because your activity level was high enough to burn off all the extra calories.

Healthy eating of course is vital because “good” food contains nutrients that are required daily but “bad” foods contain very low if any nutrients so they are just empty calories.

The key to staying in shape or keeping in shape is mainly “being active” and exercising.

Sorry, “working” usually doesn’t count as having an exercise program. Sure it burns calories, but it isn’t balanced.

A balanced exercise program works all muscle groups equally so you are getting better completely, not just bits and pieces.

A “job” usually is the same motion repeated over and over. You rarely do the same motion on the right side the same as the left side, the upper body the same as the lower body, the front side the same as the back side.

I’ll use me as an example. I roofed my house this weekend. I ripped off all the shingles, carried the shingles up the ladder, knelt and bent over for two days straight. I’m training for the USA bodybuilding contest so I’m in good shape, lift and do cardio four out of every five days, but that totally tore me up!

Working is not working out! Period! Workouts build your body up by training every body part equally. Working doesn’t care which muscle groups are being used just as long as the job gets done.

Carpel Tumel is overuse of the same thing. You can prevent that if you work every body part equally to strengthen yourself as a whole.

Is your best condition in the past or in your future? If you think that your job is activity enough to be healthy and fit, your probably wrong. When your younger, plain activity is enough. When your older you need a full body exercise program to stay healthy, lose or maintain your weight, fight off sickness and diseases and prevent injuries.

Did homecoming bring back memories of looking and feeling good? How about getting back to that level or even beat your best level of fitness.
