Cold rain, wind and mud could not stop the Big Red cross country team from hosting their meet at the Manhattan on Tuesday.

Top runners for Centerville ran some of their best times of the season despite the conditions.

Brent Ewing took third place with a time of 17:30 while Addie Kepner outdid her personal best with a fourth place finish in a time of 16:32.

Avery Schmidt ran an impressive 17:01 to take the eleventh spot.

“I was thrilled with our kids and the way they preservered through tough conditions. Robert Sheets finally stepped up and ran like we thought he could and Breezy Poolman ran an 18:08 which makes me pretty happy as we prepare for the conference meet in Albia next Tuesday,” said coach Matt Kruzich.
