Reds shut out Knoxville

The Centerville Big Reds chalked up another win on a fabulous Friday night. The weather was perfect for the Centerville game and so were the stats.
It was all Centerville as Ethan Moorman recovered a fumble in the end zone in the first quarter of action. Tanner Susin ran the ball in for the 2-point conversion giving the Reds an 8-0 lead early.
In the second quarter Tyler Gray scored on an 11-yard run with Seth Thomas getting the PAT. Brendan Hawkins received a 64-yard pass from Gray scoring for the Big Reds while Thomas took credit for the PAT.
Susin ran the ball 64 yards into the end zone and Gray scored on a 1-yard run. Thomas scored on both PAT’s giving the Big Reds a 36-0 lead at the halftime break.
Centerville was led by Susin in rushing yards with 124 while Gray was 4-for-7 in passing for 102 yards.
Defensively Mike England led with nine tackles followed by Moorman with eight, John Algood with seven and A.J. Hoffman contributed five tackles.
The Big Reds improve their overall record to 5-1 and are 3-1 in district six action with their only loss going to Pella, who remains unbeaten.
The Big Reds will host Grinnell on Friday for the Homecoming game. Grinnell was defeated by Pella on Friday night with a score of 29-0.
The kick-off will happen at 7:30 p.m. at Paul Johnson Field.
