The Seymour Warriors traveled to Thornburg Friday night to test the Tri-County Trojans on their Homecoming weekend. Things started off well for the Warriors as Tanner Banks and Brady McElvain were able to find some running room early in the contest behind the blocking of Quinten Merritt, Troy Conger, Tim Horman, and Ivan Vanderlinden. Cody Jellison crossed the goal line from three yards out on Seymour’s second possession and the visitors led 6-0 at the quarter break.

Tri-County took advantage of a couple of broken plays in the second period and regained the advantage by the half, 12-0.

During the halftime festivities, the home team reloaded and looked like a completely different squad in the third quarter as they jumped out to a 33-6 lead going into the final stanza. The Trojans would add two more scores to walk away with a 46-6 Homecoming victory.

Banks paced the offense with 125 yards rushing in 20 carries. Brady McElvain packed the mail 10 times for 106 yards to account for most of the rest of the Warriors offense.

Defensively, McElvain made 6 tackles from the defensive end spot, while Josh Ford, Tim Horman, Troy Conger, and Jalen Jones each had four or more stops on the night.

Seymour will be on the road again this week as they travel to Bussey to take on the Twin Cedars Sabers. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
