The Indian Hills Falcons picked up a 7-2 win over N.C. Missouri on Tuesday at Pat Daugherty Field.

The Falcons started off with a two run first inning to take the early 2-0 lead. North Central responded back to tie the game at 2-2 after a scoring one run in each of the second and third innings.

Indian Hills would tack on four runs in the fourth to take a 6-2 lead and would add an insurance run in the sixth.

Sam Ross pitched five innings and was awarded the win with three hits and two unearned runs charged to his record.

“Very good outing by Ross as he persevered through some shaky defense and didn’t give up any earned runs through five innings,” Indian Hills head coach Cam Walker said

The Falcons came off a weekend sweep at the hands of top-ranked Iowa Western.

Despite some solid pitching and more than a couple big innings of offense, the Falcons could not add any more losses to the Reivers record. Iowa Western extended their recent winning streak to 21 straight by completing an impressive four-game road sweep in Centerville Monday, holding on in game one for an 8-5 win before taking a 2-0 pitchers’ duel in game two.

Iowa Western handed second losses to a pair of the Falcons’ top starting pitchers. The Reivers touched up Jordan Piche for eight runs on 12 hits, opening a 6-0 lead in the fourth-inning before a three-run fifth brought IHCC back within 7-5.

“We dug ourselves in a hole early,” Indian Hills head coach Cam Walker said. “Those four unearned runs we gave up really came back to hurt.”

Yuliecer Arias had a big day for the Falcons at the plate, nailing a double in each game while scoring one in game one. Arias was 2-3 in the nightcap, contributing for half of the four-hit offense Indian Hills in game two.

Cashytn DeLeeuw lost his second decision of the season despite limiting the explosive Reiver offense to just a pair of runs on just five hits. DeLeeuw struck out four Iowa Western batters while Piche had six strikeouts and just four earned runs in the opener.

IHCC (21-19, 9-9) will host Marshalltown in two twinbills on Saturday and Sunday. They played in Creston against Southwestern Community College on Wednesday.
