CENTERVILLE – The Howar Junior High eighth grade girls basketball team hosted Knoxville on Jan. 14.

The Centerville “A” and “B” teams split a twinbill with the Lady Panthers as the Redette “A” squad lost a heartbreaker, 47-46, while the “B” team kept their record perfect with a 28-21 victory.

Kaylee Mehrhoff led Centerville in the “A” game with 15 points and 17 rebounds while Shelbey Spurgeon added 10 points in the Redette effort.

“We had opportunities with free throws, we just couldn’t get them to fall,” commented Howar coach Gary Cline.

Samantha Robinson reached double digits in the scoring category for Centerville in the “B” game with 10 points while Danielle Widmar scored eight points for the Redettes.

The Howar eighth grade girls hit the hardwood again today when they host Davis County at 4 p.m.
