The Centerville Redettes track team headed up to Pella Thursday for their season-opening event at the Pella Indoor Meet on the Central College Campus.
Meghan Foster, who qualified for the state track meet last year, placed third in shot put, throwing for over 38-feet.
Hailey Kellis and Siara Thompson both turned in four-foot-six-inches in the high jump. Hope Hancox ran for a time of 10.11 seconds in the 55 meter dash and Morgan Danko turned in a 10.95 second time.
Three relay teams ran the 4x200 meter relay for the Redettes, placing times of 2:02, 2:07 and 2:09. One team, comprised of Avery Schmidt, Emily Hawk, Hanna Sheston and Addison Kepner, turned in a time of 11:38 in the 4x800 meter relay.
Centerville girls track head coach Rich Gander was pleased with his team’s performance for their first meet of the season.
“We ran against a nice mix of large and small schools,” Gander said. “We competed well and had a good experience in the first meet of the season.”
The Redettes will host Albia, Chariton and Prairie City-Monroe on March 29 in their first of two home meets this season.
