---- — Jesus said in Luke 19:10, “I came to seek and to save that which was lost.”
Understanding this verse with others in the Scripture, the lost are those who are not right with God, are still controlled by their sin and under condemnation. Jesus came to the earth to take the punishment for our sins, freeing us from that condemnation and saving us from God’s judgment.
In the Old Testament there is the story of the night in which the death angel came to each house.
If there was blood on the doorpost from the sacrificial lamb, the first born was not killed. If there wasn’t the blood, the first born son died. (Exodus 11)
Jesus came to the earth to die and shed His blood in order to be our sacrifice and save us from the judgment of God.
As John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten (one of a kind) Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Each one of us is either lost or saved. It depends on what we do with Jesus, the Savior, sent by God.
