Disciple Women Drake Avenue Christian Church meet

Daily Iowegian

CENTERVILLE — On Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 12 p.m. 11 members gathered in Kate Gale Fellowship Hall for a bountiful luncheon. The blessing was asked by the Rev. Sara Galindo.

Eight members stayed for the business meeting at 1 p.m. conducted by President Connie Wright. We opened the meeting with "Our Prayer." Sharon Cooper recording secretary gave the minutes of the Jan. 25 meeting. Treasurer Sally Bauer gave her report.

During the business meeting, plans were made for the soup/bread Sunday suppers during the lenton season. DACC will host the noon luncheons during holy week. We will cooperate with the Evangelical Lutheran Church and First Presbyterian for services and the soup/bread Sunday supper. The Easter Cantata will be performed at DACC on Good Friday.

Connie Wright introduced the concept of Pay It Forward, a program that will be carried out when we work at The Lord's Cupboard in March. Ash Wednesday services will be at 7 p.m. at the Evangelical Lutheran church.

"The Weeping Tree," an Easter Cantata, will be performed several times, lead by choir director Joyce Boyer. We practiced at the Evangelical Lutheran Church on Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 8 p.m.

Concerns were voiced for sick members. Several have passed away at our church. Gratitude for our dinner for Ruth Clark’s family was expressed. Marie Wright will have graveside services Thursday morning at 11 a.m. in Moulton at the cemetery.

The meeting was closed with the CWF benediction. Our next regular meeting of Disciple Women will be March 28 at 12 p.m. in Fellowship Hall.

Respectfully submitted by Sharon Cooper, recording secretary.
