On Nov. 2, junior high and high school youths in the pre-confirmation and confirmation classes at St. Mary’s Catholic Church helped string lights for the synchronized display on the courthouse lawn. This is the second year that St. Mary’s youths were among the volunteers working on this project. JoAnn McLin, confirmation coordinator, incorporates community service, as well as service to the Church and the needy, into the Christian service hours required for confirmation.
The Community Improvement Coalition and the Daily Iowegian are recognizing people, organizations or businesses in the community who are making a difference by volunteering or investing in Centerville. Projects don’t have to be big or expensive--little things add up when we are all working together towards a better Centerville. If you know someone who has made a positive contribution to the betterment of the community, big or small, please contact the Daily Iowegian or the Centerville-Rathbun Lake Area Chamber of Commerce. Photos can be emailed to email@example.com or by text message to firstname.lastname@example.org.
