New pastor arrives in Centerville

The Solid Rock Church of God congregation welcomes a new pastor and his wife to the Centerville area. Pastor Tony Angran and his wife, Diana, have been chosen to pastor the church located at 1220 Rock Valley Road in Centerville.

Pastor Angran, who is originally from Albia, comes to the church from La Salle, Ill. Feeling called to pastor and preach at a young age, Angran started out with the Klingensmiths, a local gospel group, with whom he sang, played drums and evangelized. In fact, Pastor Angran met his wife at her uncle’s church during one of these events. Together they have worked at every level of the church and have an experienced understanding of the needs of the congregation. He and Diana have served as laymen in the church and were mentored by a pastor that modeled having a heart for people. As a result, Angran feels especially called to help people draw close to God.

His goals for the Solid Rock church are to bring church members into the work of reaching people, bringing in families, and bringing in communities of the area into a relationship with God. Diana summed it up when she said, “Our goal is to reach outside our denomination to help people realize there is hope, that there is abundant life in the Lord.”

“Baptism in the Holy Ghost is second only to salvation,” said Pastor Angran when asked about being Pentecostal. “It is the opportunity to experience the fullness of God. Everything God has for us is in the Holy Spirit and we are able to experience all God has for us only through baptism in the Holy Ghost.”

Pastor and Diana came to the Solid Rock Church of God “with some zeal to help others draw close to God.”

The members of Solid Rock Church of God are holding a reception to welcome Pastor Angran and his wife, Diana, at the church reception hall Saturday, April 20 from 2-4 p.m.

The Iowegian wants readers to think about rental permit fees. The Centerville City Council has conducted two working sessions and a third one is planned in order to get a feel for the public's appetite about raising rental permit fees from charging a landlord $25 every two years to charging a certain amount per rental unit per year. So, the question of the week is, "Are you in favor of Centerville increasing rental permit fees?"

A. I'm in favor.
B. I'm not in favor.
C. I'm not sure.
