On the evening of the passover after the meal was over and Satan had entered Judas’ heart, Jesus disrobed and prepared to wash the disciples feet. Knowing in advance that Judas would betray him, he proceeded anyway. He did not leave anyone out. After he was done, he asked, “Do you understand what I was doing?”
John 13:13 says, “You call me Teacher and Lord and you are right because that is what I am. Since I your Lord and Teacher have washed your feet you ought to wash each others feet. I have given you an example to follow. So as I have done to you.”
He goes on to tell his disciples that no one is better than another, emphasizing that he has taught them by example. If we want to lead then we must follow. (His example)
I once heard it said it is easy to love the lovely. Our greatest gift in return to our Heavenly Father is that we love the less lovely equally.
