On Sunday evening, Nov. 10 at 5:30 p.m. an unprecedented event will take place at the King Theater at 113 Benton Ave. East in Albia. My Hope America with Billy Graham will take place as part of a nationwide outreach in conjunction with the 95th birthday of the famous American preacher and evangelist. Working together with more than 22,000 local churches, both Protestant and Catholic, and groups, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association will hold this nationwide outreach to coincide with the Rev. Graham’s 95th birthday. The event is being sponsored by several churches in Albia, including Trinity United Methodist, Cornerstone Community, Albia Baptist Temple, River Life and Christ at the Crossroads Ministries and also has the support of the Albia Ministerial Association.
The multi-media event starts at the theater at 5:30 p.m. but doors will be open at 5 p.m. for a free food and fellowship time catered by Hy-Vee of Albia. At about 6:15 p.m. the one hour program will begin with special music provided by Faith Connected which includes singers from Ottumwa as well as Tom Williamson and Cindy Rhodes. Special music will also appear on the big screen from Keith and Kristyn Getty, both from Ireland who will perform the classic, “In Christ Alone,” which they wrote. There will be some short comments and sharing by some two adult speakers and a senior high youth prior to the special message from the Rev. Graham from his living room at his home in Montreat, N.C. also appearing on the screen at the theater. Also appearing via the big screen will be singers, Lacey Sturm and LeCrae.
Free Bibles will be given to all in attendance and the entire event itself will run about one hour.
Similar events will happen nationwide as will special presentations around the country and in homes and television on other days. It is all part of a massive move around the nation as the Rev. Graham gives, what he believes, is the last call to America. This comes as many continue to see our nation sink further into moral and spiritual decay. Graham has said that, “unless God sends a sweeping revival across America, the America, as we have known it, a nation rooted in Biblical values, will be a thing f the past. The hour is late and the need is urgent. The eternal destiny of many souls, and the future of our great nations are at stake.”
