Heartland Pregnancy Center, which has been serving Ottumwa and the surrounding communities for more than 20 years, is gearing up for its Annual banquet. This non-profit organization is dedicated to providing “compassionate Christian care…to families experiencing needs related to pregnancy.” It has served more than 16,000 client visits since it opened in 1993.
“The banquet is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year and we’d love to see each seat filled,” said Heartland’s board chairman Therese Cummiskey. “You’ll get an excellent meal and a great keynote. And this year we’ll also be adding some silent auction items.”
The guest speaker for the banquet will be Bob Vander Plaats, president and CEO of The Family Leader. The Family Leader “provides a consistent, courageous voice in the churches, in the legislature, in the media, in the courtroom, in the public square…always standing for God’s truth.”
The banquet is set for Friday, Nov. 1 at 6:30 p.m. As in the past it will take place at the Indian Hills Community College Cafeteria in the Arts and Science Center Building. Cost per ticket is $12.50. Tickets can be reserved by calling the center (641) 683-3030 or Jean Dorothy (641) 919-5324 by Oct. 25.
