Well the calendar may say March but as I look out my window today, it could be Christmas Eve by the look of the weather outside.
What would we talk about if we couldn’t talk about the weather? Some people would say, “There is just nothing else to talk about.”
This is so not true. The weather really has consumed us this winter, but there is much more we can talk about.
Jesus said, “Go and make disciples.” Can we do that by talking about the weather? I think not.
Jesus said, “Follow me.” Do we have to shovel a path to do that? I think not.
Jesus said, “Pray without ceasing.” Can we only pray that it doesn’t snow or that we will be about to get to certain places? I think not.
When Jesus said, “Go make disciples,” he meant talk to people not about how much snow we have, but about what the Lord has done for us and what the Lord can do for them.
When Jesus said, “Follow me,” he did not have a shovel in mind. He wanted us to live a good, clean life, showing others by example, how to be Christian.
When Jesus said, “Pray without ceasing,” he didn’t mean pray that the weather would be good, or that we could get to the mako; he meant praise me, thank me and be glad for what I have given you.
I think the song says it beast…”Count your blessings, name them one by one, and it will surprise you, what the Lord has done.”
The words to this song are the best advice I can give on this cold snowy day.
Be happy, spring is on its way.
