---- — Did you know there is a “price on your head?”
Going back to the early days of our country there were posters on the walls of the sheriff offices and post offices showing pictures, mostly of men, that were “wanted” by the law. They had committed crimes such as bank robberies or murders. Also on these posters were prices listed that would be paid by the state if and when someone’s information led to the criminal being found and captured. The severity of the crime committed determined the amount of the award. Worse, some had the added message, “Wanted dead or alive!”
Those looking at the posters of the more pricey awards often exclaimed, “That man sure has a price on his head!” meaning it must have been a very bad thing that he did.
This brought to my mind the Scripture in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, where the Apostle Paul said we were “bought with a price.” This and other Scriptures declare that when we sin and break the Word of God, a price needs to be paid. Jesus, when He died, took our punishment, paid our debt, and set us free.
Before accepting Jesus as our Savior we all have a “price on our heads.” How great it is to have that precious “red” (written in His blood) statement, “Paid in Full” by Jesus Christ!
